Barryscourt Castle
Barryscourt castle was the home of the Barry family from the 12th to the 17th century. The present castle, with its largely intact bawn wall and corner towers, is a fine example of an Irish Tower House. Both the Main Hall and the Great Hall have been extensively restored. The Orchard has been restored to an original 16th century design. In the Castle courtyard a 16th century herb garden has been reinstated. Access is by guided tour only and takes approx. 60 minutes (maximum of 15 people).
Blarney Castle
Blarney Castle was built nearly six hundred years ago by one of Ireland’s greatest chieftains, Cormac MacCarthy, and has been attracting attention beyond Munster ever since. This historic castle is most famous for its stone, which has the traditional power of conferring eloquence on all who kiss it. The grounds are also home to the Rock Close - a curious place of ancient stones. There is also Blarney Lake and wildlife, arboretum and gardens, garden walk and woodland walks.
Lismore Castle Gardens
Set on 7 acres of land with the castle's 17-century outer defensive walls. The gardens have many magnolias, camellias and rhododendrons. They gardens are open to the public from 17th March to 30th September between 11.00 am and 4.45 pm. The gardens are believed to be the oldest in Ireland retaining much of their original Jacobean form.
